Reading Summer Camp
Alpha Academy hosted its first annual reading summer camp. Our reading camp focuses on building reading comprehension skills for first and second-grade students. Our goal is further to develop proficiency in students according to state-mandated guidelines and prepare them for the upcoming academic year. At the end of reading camp, it’s our mission that students will foster a positive attitude, with excitement and confidence, towards reading.
The original BizWorld program began as a grassroots movement in Silicon Valley in an effort to teach students the important business skills that many of them were not being taught at home or at school. Today, BizWorld.org is the largest teacher-led entrepreneurial program in the world, having taught and inspired over 600,000 children. BizWorld.org currently offers three engaging, project-based programs: BizWorld®, BizWiz and BizMovie®. Correlated to both California State and national standards in math, economics and language arts, BizWorld.org programs bring these standards to life by adding relevancy to academics and providing students with a real-world context. All three programs are designed to be flexible and applicable in a variety of classroom settings. The curriculum materials are also reusable, so educators can teach the program year after year with negligible cost.
Science Olympiad comes in many shapes and sizes to fit your needs. At the K-6 level, try an Elementary Science Olympiad (ESO) program, which can come in the form of a competitive tournament, a hands-on science Fun Day or an expert-filled Science Olympiad Fun Night. In grades 6-9, Science Olympiad functions much like a football or soccer team, requiring preparation, commitment, coaching and practice throughout the year. Each school-based team is allowed to bring 15 students who cross-train for a variety of events in their skill set, but some school clubs have more than 75 members, allowing for an apprentice and mentoring system.us.
