We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health as we continue to face the uncertainty in our community. Below is some very information concerning your student(s). Please read this letter in its entirety.
First, we would like to congratulate the students on successfully completing the first nine weeks! We would like to also thank you for your continued support and understanding as we move forward during this pandemic. You have shown enormous patience, grace, and strength as we navigate this unchartered territory together. This situation has challenged us to look at various means to deliver meaningful academic instruction to our students in this current school year.
In the best interest of our students and staff, Alpha Academy has decided to continue Virtual Learning until January 2021. We anticipate students will return to school on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. This date may change based on the climate. Our goal is to keep you updated and to make decisions as information becomes available.
Great News! We have received our Chrome Books. They will be issued the week of October 5th -9th to the students identified by their teacher. You will receive a message via your child’s teacher notifying you of the date, time and location for the distribution. Your patience during this process has been noted and appreciated.
We understand it is important for you to remain knowledgeable of your child’s progress at Alpha Academy, you have been given access to the PowerSchool Parent Portal. By now, you should have received a mailed letter identifying access information for the Parent Portal. The Parent Portal will allow you to gain access to your child’s attendance and grades at any time.
Please visit our school website to complete the Impact Aid Survey for the 2020-21 school year. The Impact Aid Survey is federal funding to provide support to military-connected families. This information is very important and must be completed online at https://forms.gle/B1wcZEWAf5LqPFtN7 or you can find the link on our Facebook page. Please complete a form for each child in your home that is a student at Alpha Academy. The survey must be completed by Friday, October 9th.
There will be a meeting scheduled next week to answer any questions you may have. Zoom information will be sent in a separate letter or email inviting parents to this session. If you would like to submit your questions, please submit them to firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday, October 9th. These questions will be addressed at the scheduled Zoom meeting.
Please mark your calendar identifying some vital dates within the month of October:
October 5th – 9th – Parent/ Teacher Conferences. We are committed to your child’s education.
Please plan to participate in Parent/Teacher Conferences scheduled by your child’s teacher to discuss his/her progress thus far.
October 9th – 1/2 day for students and staff. Classes will be dismissed at 11:45 a.m. Student academic packets will be issued 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
October 14th – End of the 1st nine weeks.
October 19th – Teacher Workday – No school for students
October 21st – Grades K-8 Student report cards/1st Quarter can be accessed through the Powerschool Parent Portal. Grades 9-11, October 21st is mid-term reports. Report cards can be reviewed after EOC testing (January 2021). Students will be tested at the end of the 20-21 school year: EOG and EOC.
